Format is hiring!
We would love to hear from Structural Engineers with between two and four years of experience, preferably with a working knowledge of Grasshopper/Rhino (or other digital design and development platforms) but primarily with an enthusiasm for engineering design and a questioning attitude (you will need this!). We are currently looking for someone with an ability to self-motivate, balance their own tasks and interact with our non-Format friends (fabricators, designers etc.) on a range of small projects.
We are a young(ish) practice of Engineering Designers with backgrounds in structural engineering, coding, mathematics and architecture. We’re having a great time working with a range of brilliant clients and fabrication partners on complex, thought-provoking and fun projects that include beautifully-detailed feature staircases, a suspended sculpture in central London, an event installation in Riyadh and a number of refined bridges. We’ve actually got too much to do, so we are looking for someone to join us at our office in the beautiful city of Bath (Somerset, UK) or in our new office in London.
Alongside our day-to-day project work we carry-out original research and develop our own computational tools. We’re obviously interested in structural engineering but we also like to apply the skills developed in this pursuit to art, science, product design and architecture.
We offer mentoring from people at the forefront of engineering design, a friendly and genuinely flexible working environment and the chance to help develop a growing business.
