The Design Modelling Symposium 2026 brought together research and practice exploring how materials, computational methods and emerging technologies are reshaping architectural and structural design. Its tenth edition was held at EPFL in Lausanne and Fribourg, Switzerland.
We presented Optimisation of Waste Steel Led the Design of Low-carbon Public Infrastructure in Paper Session 1b: Circularity. The paper explores how the available stock of waste steel informed the design of low-carbon public infrastructure, using the Tan House footbridge as a case study.
